What is ClickyMaps?
Clickymaps.com exists to make the printed maps of the world as easy to discover, view, download, and print as possible so they may be enjoyed and not languish in obscurity.
Discovery Browser
The Discovery Browser is organized into a card-based tree system to make it as intuitive as possible to find a map set you're interested in looking at. Just click a card for a region you want to see. Once you reach the bottom of the browser tree, you will see green cards, one for each map set. Click the Open button to open the grid for that map set.
Navigating the Grid
Pan and zoom the map like any web map. The Zoom to Grid button beside the Discovery Browser button will recenter the grid. Click a square to open its corresponding map in the panel on the right.
Right-click a grid square for a quick-info popup with a Compare button. Comparing will open a second map viewer so two maps can be compared side by side. A Swap button will appear in the toolbar that will swap the positions of the displayed maps.
For some map sets, there are multiple editions available for the same grid square location. If this is the case, a film strip display will open showing the editions available. Click an edition to load in the viewer.
Searching
Type a sheet ID (e.g. 072O01, 36.167) to jump straight to it. Type a place name (e.g. Banff, Yosemite) to geocode via OpenStreetMap. Partial block IDs (e.g. 072) highlight the whole block.
Download
The ↓ Download button in the viewer toolbar opens the original map file directly from its publisher (the ↗ Source button next to it goes to the publisher's catalog page). The file is whatever format the publisher made available — usually a georeferenced PDF or a TIFF scan — and is yours to keep, print, or use in GIS software, subject to the publisher's licence (see the ↗ License button).
To grab multiple maps at once, add them to your Collection (the 🗺️ Add To Collection button in the viewer toolbar), then open Collection from the top of the page and use ⬇ Download All.
Order Prints
Any map in your Collection can be ordered as a printed poster. Open Collection, click Generate Quote on any card to see the print size and price, then + Add to Order. Open the 🛒 Cart panel to pick a destination, see shipping rates, and check out via Stripe.
Prints are produced and shipped by Printful on Enhanced Matte poster paper. Every map is printed at its true physical scale — if the original is 1:50,000, the print is too. The poster size is automatically chosen as the smallest standard size the map fits inside; whatever white border results is intentional. You can trim it down if you want.
